Welping now sells hydraulic butt welders that require two types of power supply, one is 220V/50Hz,1PH, and the other is 380V/50Hz,3PH. Generally small sized hydraulic butt welders need the former power source while large sized ones use the latter, WP355A is their watershed with two power modes for customers to choose.

Therefore, customers should be clear about the power supply they can provide to match the machine after purchasing the butt welder, the wrong power supply may lead to the machine can not run properly or damaged.

The differences between the two power supplies are explained below.

The voltage of 220v is the difference in voltage between one phase wire and one zero wire. The voltage of 380v is the voltage between the two phase wires. Appliances with a high demand for power will require 380V.

The distinction between the two can also be made from the plug, with 220V electrical plug sockets generally being two or three-hole, while 380V is four-hole.

AC 380 volts or AC 220 volts, both with a frequency of 50 Hz. This means that the voltage changes from positive to negative and then from negative to positive, a process that takes place 50 times/second.

Single-phase electricity is an alternating current supply that uses two lines to distribute power. Three-phase electricity is three sets of alternating current of equal amplitude, equal frequency and different initial phases, generated by a three-phase generator with three windings.

Single-phase voltages peak twice in a cycle and the instantaneous power is not constant; the sum of the instantaneous powers of three-phase power is constant and operates more stably.

Understanding the difference between the two power sources will allow customers to choose the correct power supply for their hydraulic butt welder. In addition customers can also buy diesel generators through the combustion of diesel fuel, generating mechanical energy, and converted into electrical energy, to provide their own butt welding machine to meet the requirements of the power supply.
