Welping has launched the new SFA Series Portable Socket Fusion Alignment Tools, designed to help installers keep plastic pipes and fittings stable and aligned during socket fusion welding.
In socket fusion welding, heating time, insertion depth, and joining movement are all important. However, in real jobsite work, one practical issue is often overlooked: keeping the pipe and fitting properly aligned during heating and joining.
For small pipe sizes, manual operation may be enough. But as pipe sizes become larger, or when repeated joints are required, holding the pipe and fitting by hand can become difficult. After heating, the heater must be removed quickly, and the pipe and fitting need to be joined in the correct direction. Any shaking, tilting, or unstable movement may affect the final welding result.
The Welping SFA Series is developed for this kind of practical jobsite need.
A Practical Tool for More Stable Socket Fusion Welding
The SFA Series is not an automatic welding machine. It is a simple, practical alignment tool for socket fusion work.
Its main purpose is to hold the pipe and fitting firmly in position, reducing the need to rely entirely on hand control during heating and joining. With the pipe and fitting secured in the clamps, the whole process becomes easier to manage, especially for repeated welding operations.
Two Models for Different Pipe Sizes
The SFA Series is available in two models:
· SFA-63：Suitable for 20–63mm pipes.
· SFA-110：Suitable for 75–110mm pipes.
These two models cover different socket fusion size ranges, allowing users to choose the right tool according to their commonly used pipe sizes.
Adjustable Clamps for Pipes and Fittings
The tool is equipped with adjustable clamps to hold both the pipe and fitting.
The clamp opening width can be adjusted using the black star-shaped knobs. After placing the pipe and fitting into the clamps, the operator can tighten the knobs to secure them firmly.
This helps reduce shaking and movement during the welding process. For installers who need to complete the same type of joint repeatedly, stable clamping makes the work easier, smoother, and more consistent.
A key feature of the SFA Series is its handwheel-controlled joining movement.
Instead of pushing the pipe and fitting together only by hand, the operator can turn the handwheel to move the clamping unit in a straighter and more controlled way.
This is especially useful for larger socket fusion sizes, where fittings are heavier and the joining movement can be harder to control manually.
The tool can be used on a workbench for pipe preparation and prefabrication work.
For suitable in-position welding applications, the base can also be removed, making the tool more flexible for different installation and maintenance conditions.
The SFA Series is suitable for common plastic piping materials, including:
PPR, PE, PP, PB, and PVDF.
Socket fusion heaters and heating sockets are supplied separately and can be selected according to the pipe material and pipe size.
Socket fusion welding does not always require complicated equipment. But stable clamping and proper alignment can make the process much easier, especially when working with larger pipe sizes or repeated joints.
